The Role

The Commercial Manager is responsible for managing and developing major customer accounts, delivering sustainable sales, volume and margin growth. They play a key role in medium- and long-term commercial planning, ensuring customer strategies align with wider business objectives. Alongside customer leadership, the role includes line management of Account Managers, supporting their development and ensuring consistent, high-quality execution across all accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and grow national retail customer accounts, delivering against sales, volume and margin targets
  • Identify commercial opportunities across product ranges and translate them into actionable plans
  • Lead day-to-day customer relationships and support senior-level negotiations
  • Contribute to pricing strategy, promotional planning and seasonal volume forecasting
  • Track performance and market share, proactively managing risks and opportunities
  • Line manage and develop Account Managers, setting clear standards and encouraging collaboration
  • Work cross-functionally with procurement, supply chain, finance, technical and IT teams to ensure smooth delivery and accurate commercial data
