This role sits within a dynamic sales team and works closely alongside a fellow Commercial Manager to drive commercial performance across key national retail accounts. The Role
The Commercial Manager is responsible for managing and developing major customer accounts, delivering sustainable sales, volume and margin growth. They play a key role in medium- and long-term commercial planning, ensuring customer strategies align with wider business objectives. Alongside customer leadership, the role includes line management of Account Managers, supporting their development and ensuring consistent, high-quality execution across all accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and grow national retail customer accounts, delivering against sales, volume and margin targets
- Identify commercial opportunities across product ranges and translate them into actionable plans
- Lead day-to-day customer relationships and support senior-level negotiations
- Contribute to pricing strategy, promotional planning and seasonal volume forecasting
- Track performance and market share, proactively managing risks and opportunities
- Line manage and develop Account Managers, setting clear standards and encouraging collaboration
- Work cross-functionally with procurement, supply chain, finance, technical and IT teams to ensure smooth delivery and accurate commercial data
