Hybrid | Regular travel to Herefordshire (Wye Valley), Suffolk & national customers. This is not a desk job. And it’s not a caretaker role. We’re searching for a commercially driven General Manager to lead a high-quality, vertically integrated heritage meat business supplying some of the UK’s most demanding but exciting customers — including premium retail, wholesale and Michelin-level hospitality.
This role sits at the very top of the operation. You’ll own the commercial strategy, customer relationships, operational performance and people leadership across the full farm-to-fork value chain.
The OpportunityYou’ll take full P&L responsibility and act as the senior commercial and operational lead — growing revenue and profit while protecting what really matters: quality, provenance and reputation. You’ll balance sales‑led growth with hands‑on leadership across:
- Livestock production (heritage beef, pork and lamb)
- Traditional butchery and maturation
- National distribution and customer delivery
You’ll be the public face of the brand — credible with chefs, buyers and partners — and equally respected on farm, in the cutting room and at board level.
What You’ll Be Doing- Setting and delivering a clear commercial growth strategy
- Winning and retaining high‑value customers across hospitality, wholesale and D2C
- Leading an integrated operation spanning agriculture, butchery and logistics
- Driving margin, cost discipline and customer experience
- Building, leading and developing a skilled, values‑led team
- Ensuring exemplary standards across food safety, welfare, compliance and assurance
- Reporting directly to the Board with clarity, confidence and insight
You’ll be a senior operator with commercial firepower, likely from:
- Premium meat, food or produce
- Agriculture‑led or vertically integrated businesses
- High‑end or provenance‑driven supply chains
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience delivering sales‑led growth
- Strong financial and operational judgement
- Credibility with premium customers and stakeholders
- A hands‑on leadership style — strategic but not detached
- An uncompromising approach to quality and standards
Above all, you’ll care deeply about doing things properly, building something sustainable, and leaving the business stronger than you found it.
Why This Role?- Senior, autonomous General Manager appointment
- High‑quality product, respected brand, loyal customer base
- Clear mandate to grow — without cutting corners
- Backed by an established parent group and engaged board
