My client is a well-established Design & Build contractor delivering high-quality commercial interiors across Hampshire, the South Coast, and the wider South East. Known for innovative design, technical excellence, and a collaborative culture, the business partners with clients across office and mixed-use environments. With a strong pipeline of CAT A, CAT B, and refurbishment projects ranging from £100k to £1m+, the company is expanding its commercial team with a high-calibre Senior Quantity Surveyor.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take full commercial ownership of multiple fit-out projects from tender stage through to final account. You’ll work closely with pre-construction, design, delivery, and supply chain teams to ensure projects are procured efficiently, delivered profitably, and exceed client expectations. This is a strategic role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced D&B environment and enjoys balancing commercial rigour with client-facing responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of multiple D&B fit-out projects across Hampshire and the South East.
- Prepare, manage, and present cost plans, BOQs, and tender documentation.
- Oversee procurement strategies, negotiate with subcontractors, and manage supply chain performance.
- Conduct value engineering exercises and provide commercial insight during design development.
- Manage project budgets, cost reporting, CVRs, and forecasting throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assess and manage variations, change control, and contractual obligations.
- Prepare and agree interim valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
- Work closely with Project Managers to ensure cost, programme, and quality targets are achieved.
- Maintain strong client relationships and represent the commercial function in progress meetings.
- Ensure compliance with company processes, contract frameworks, and industry standards.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS within the Design & Build or commercial fit-out sector.
- Strong understanding of JCT contracts and D&B procurement routes.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and client-facing skills.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyse data and produce accurate reports.
- Experience with cost planning, tendering, and subcontractor management.
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Professional membership (RICS) advantageous but not essential.
