My client is a high-end residential construction firm specialising in bespoke homes, renovations, and luxury developments. Known for meticulous craftsmanship and a white-glove client experience, we\’re entering a new phase of growth and transformation.
Following a period of challenge and reset, we are seeking a seasoned Finance Director to help stabilise, restructure, and scale the financial core of our business – while aligning with entrepreneurial systems like EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) and tools like Smartsheet .
Role Overview
As a Finance Director , you\’ll act as a strategic financial partner to the Managing Director and leadership team. Your focus will be stabilisation, cash flow control, margin improvement, and setting the business on a clear and confident path to expansion.
You\’ll bring deep experience in construction finance , understand the nuances of project-based accounting , and thrive in the real-world constraints of a growing business .
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the financial recovery and growth strategy of the business
- Oversee cash flow forecasting, job costing, project margins, and budgeting
- Implement or improve financial systems, controls, and reporting tools
- Create system to manage payment run and plan project costs well in advance
- Translate financial insights into actionable business decisions
- Prepare board-level reporting and support investor or lender relationships
- Liaise with external accountants, banks, and tax advisors as needed
- Provide strategic input on growth plans, pricing models, and investment
- Actively support and lead Finance EOS structure (scorecards, rocks, V/TO alignment)
- Build scalable finance processes that support long-term expansion
- Train existing in house team, Finance Manager and Assistant Bookkeeper
• What You Bring
- Proven experience as a Finance Director (or CFO) in construction, property development, or project-based environments
- Demonstrated ability to lead financial turnaround, stabilisation, and growth
- Deep understanding of cash flow planning, job costing, and WIP accounting
- Strategic mindset with operational hands-on capability
- Comfortable working fractional hours, independently, and with entrepreneurial leadership
Bonus Experience (Nice to Have)
- Familiarity with EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) frameworks
- Experience using Smartsheet for project tracking/reporting
- Involvement with Strategic Coach or similar entrepreneurial development programs
- Knowledge of high-end or bespoke residential construction markets
