Redfield Edge Primary School is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and vibrant team. About the Role:

  • Support small groups of children across the school, assisting the class teacher in delivering lessons and ensuring all children are included and supported effectively.
  • Provide tailored support for pupils with complex needs, helping them to achieve their full potential through personalised learning and development strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide focused support for pupils with complex needs, promoting their learning and personal development through tailored 1:1 and small group interventions.
  • Assist in delivering tailored support and interventions for the child, under the direction of the class teacher and SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Support the children with their social and emotional development, fostering positive behaviour and independence.
  • Support the children with intimate care where required, ensuring their dignity and privacy are maintained.
  • Work with other groups of pupils across the school, providing additional support during lessons, activities, and interventions.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and ensure a positive, inclusive environment for all pupils.
  • Observe and monitor the child’s progress, providing feedback to the teacher and SENCo as required.
  • Support the teacher with preparing and organizing learning materials and resources.
  • Participate in meetings and training to continue developing knowledge and skills relevant to the role.
  • Adhere to school policies and procedures, ensuring child safeguarding and health and safety standards are met at all times.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Level 2 / Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience in supporting children with complex needs in a primary school setting.
  • Understanding of the needs of children with special educational needs (SEND), including those with autism, physical disabilities, and social and emotional difficulties.
  • Knowledge of intimate care procedures, with the ability to provide care in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a caring nature, with a passion for helping children succeed.
  • Willingness to undertake additional training and professional development as required by the school.

This post is mornings Monday to Friday, 8.45 to 1.15pm. This is a Term time only post including INSET training days. Total hours per week 22.5 hours MPT 5.7 FTE £25584.
