AWS Cloud Optimization Success is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect who will curate, define, and maintain best practices for technology and industry-specific workloads, in accordance with the AWS Well-Architected Framework and Cloud Adoption Framework, collaborating with global subject-matter experts. We want to help our customers understand how best practices apply to their workloads.

AWS Well-Architected Lenses extend the guidance offered by AWS Well-Architected to specific industry and technology domains, such as generative AI, machine learning (ML), data analytics, serverless, high performance computing (HPC), IoT, SAP, streaming media, the games industry, hybrid networking, and financial services. To fully evaluate workloads, customers use applicable lenses together with the six pillars of the AWS Well-Architected Framework.

Your role will be a thought leader and a community leader within AWS with a focus on the development and updates of prescriptive guidance that will help AWS customers identify their operational, security, reliability, performance, sustainability, and cost requirements for workloads running on AWS that are tailored to their specific industry needs, or for specific technology domains. You will then be available as a consultant during the development and operational phases. You will work with our product teams to define requirements and features desired by our customers. You will be a member of the global architecture subject matter experts, ensuring success for customers that develop and operate workloads in the AWS Cloud.

Along with developing best practice guidance and whitepapers, you will also be speaking at AWS events, creating and delivering labs, and creating other content, including reference implementations. This senior autonomous role will focus on customer-facing guidance through remote and on-site engagements, participation in the global architecture guidance leadership, and speaking at AWS events. The role will also include collaboration with other AWS teams developing guidance frameworks for AWS customers.

Key job responsibilities:

  • As a trusted advisor, solve some of the most complex and large-scale challenges faced by AWS customers ranging from rapidly growing cloud-native start-ups to global enterprises migrating to AWS.
  • As a Thought Leader, provide the focus to a community of Subject Matter Experts to create content that will better deliver prescriptive guidance to AWS Customers.
  • Constantly gather feedback from AWS customers to gain a deep understanding of their needs and technical challenges, and to ensure they achieve the greatest value from AWS as they scale.
  • Meet with AWS customers who implement cloud workloads at scale to understand and communicate any previously unidentified best practices.
  • Use feedback from AWS customers, AWS field team members, and AWS service teams to develop and improve guidance artifacts and resources.
  • Help with uplift and enablement for cloud workload implementations and capabilities of customers, while mentoring other AWS field team members.

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.

We are a Specialist SA team who deliver best practice knowledge and enablement through engagements, thought leadership, evangelism and ownership of re-usable assets. We help drive adoption of AWS services through the use of the Well-Architected & Cloud Adoption Frameworks and Tools. We also support the other services that our organization owns; Trusted Advisor & AWS Health. We work with internal AWS teams, AWS Account teams, Partner and customers. We help advocate for success and technical excellence to help who we work with move through the cloud adoption journey.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience of technical writing (documentation, blog posts, books, online courses, whitepapers etc) and leading technical IT or documentation projects as part of a distributed team.
  • Hands-on experience building, deploying and running production Cloud workloads and experienced with industry architecture and compliance frameworks.
  • Understands large-scale complex distributed systems from an operational effectiveness, security, and reliability perspective.
  • Strong automation mindset and passion to identify or develop strategies to mitigate manual intervention going forward.
  • Track record of designing and implementing cloud best practices (e.g. architecting, provisioning, deployment, monitoring, incident management, continual service improvement, cost containment, etc.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience as a Senior Solutions Architect/Consultant supporting Cloud workloads across a variety of implementations.
  • Content and digital asset management.
  • Experience in a high-level programming/scripting language(s). (e.g. Python, Golang, JavaScript, Java, C#, etc.).
  • AWS Certifications (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Professional, AWS DevOps Professional, etc.)
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional or military experience.
