The role
- Support the strategic and operational managers in delivering the vision, strategies and initiatives for the Housing Solutions team and the wider housing service, of which you are an integral part.
- For all voids, provide managerial oversight and control of the end-to-end void process for the Housing Service, including close collaboration with all other relevant service areas that develops and delivers consistent high performance.
- Provide enabling supportive customer services that are firmly focused on the prevention and/or relief of homelessness through the Housing Register and provision of Temporary Accommodation.
- Ensure that the Housing Solutions team support all officers, systems, and processes in operating the Homelessness, and Housing Solutions team, in delivering a seamless service.
Key Requirements
- Work proactively and collaboratively with the Homelessness Manager, and wider service managers, to ensure your teams deliver a seamless technical and customer service under the legislative and regulatory framework for housing and homelessness.
- Through systems and policies, provide open and positive direct line management and good leadership to the Registrations and Allocations Team Leader and Temporary Accommodation Team Leader, and indirectly to the Housing Solutions Team.
- Ensure that the Local Authorities nomination agreements and processes are regularly updated, monitored and managed, to maximize stock available to the Council for allocation.
- From the register, ensure proactive identification of those homeless, threatened with homelessness, living in exceptional circumstances, or with health and welfare needs, that need to be prioritized and referred for casework and decision making, professionally supporting any formal decision-making processes as necessary.
Skills & experience
- Min Level 4 qualification related to housing management and social housing practices and to maintain annual CIH membership.
- At least 2 years relevant and recent experience in a housing managerial role.
- Experience of operating choice based letting systems and a general housing register and nominations in a local authority setting.
- Be experienced in void process management and know how to improve performance across multiple service areas.
