The Role
Bromsgrove and Redditch Councils are seeking to recruit Food Waste Collection Driver/Loaders to support the delivery of our new food waste collection service across both districts.
The successful candidates will be responsible for the safe operation of food waste collection vehicles and for collecting food waste from residential properties on a weekly basis.Working as part of a collection crew, you will help deliver an efficient,dependable, and customer-focused service whilst ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety and road traffic legislation.
There may also be opportunities to support the wider Waste Services team, including
domestic refuse, recycling and garden waste collections when required.
Key Requirements
You will:
- Hold a full Class 2 HGV driving licence.
- Hold a valid CPC card and digital tachograph card.
- Be able to work flexibly across all collection rounds and from any of our depot locations.
- Demonstrate acommitmentto safe working practices and excellent customer service.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for individuals with experience in waste collection services or a similar outdoor operational environment.
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:
- A full UK Driving Licence with a Class 2 (Category C) entitlement, valid Driver CPC qualification card, and digital tachograph card and anunderstandingof how these operate.
- Experience of driving HGV vehicles safely and responsibly in a public-facing environment.
- A goodunderstandingof health and safety requirements and their importance within the workplace.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Anunderstandingof excellent customer service and how this contributes to the reputation of the councils.
- A positive, flexible, and proactive attitude.
- The ability to workindependentlyand as part of a team.
- Excellent time management and reliability.
- Professional behaviour and conduct when representing the councils within the community.
- A minimum of one year's experience within a waste management role or a similar operational environment.
- Knowledge of Bromsgrove and Redditch and the services provided by the councils.
- Previous experience driving refuse collection, recycling, food waste, or other specialist collection vehicles.
- Experience of completing daily vehicle safety checks and defect reporting.
- Knowledge of drivers' hours regulations and tachograph requirements.
