Overview
Position Summary
The Soft Play Assistant is responsible for supervising and supporting children and families in the pub’s soft play area, ensuring a fun, safe, and welcoming environment. They will help with safety checks, cleaning, customer service, and engaging positively with children and parents.
Responsibilities
- Supervise children in the soft play area to ensure safe play.
- Greet and assist parents/guardians, explaining rules and procedures.
- Carry out regular safety checks of equipment and play surfaces.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards, including cleaning tables, floors, and play equipment.
- Report any hazards, maintenance issues, or incidents promptly.
- Support the pub team by assisting with birthday parties and group bookings.
- Encourage positive play, resolving minor disputes between children where needed.
- Ensure safeguarding and health & safety policies are always followed.
- Work with the wider pub team to provide excellent customer service.
Person Specification
Essential
- Friendly, approachable, and confident in working with children.
- Good communication and people skills (both with children and adults).
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow safety procedures.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Basic awareness of health & safety and safeguarding.
Desirable
- Previous experience working with children (e.g., childcare, play centres, schools).
- First Aid qualification (paediatric desirable).
- Food hygiene awareness.
- Experience in hospitality, leisure, or customer service.
