Freelance Subeditor – 1 Day per Week (Ongoing Contract) – Inside IR35

Are you an experienced Subeditor with a meticulous eye for detail and a strong background in working with luxury brands? We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a highly skilled Subeditor to assist with digital marketing campaigns and product descriptions on an ongoing, part-time basis (1 day per week). This role can be carried out remotely but requires you to be based in the UK.

The Role

This is a subediting position where you’ll play a crucial role in adapting and refining copy for the UK market. You’ll ensure all content aligns with UK English standards, legal guidelines, and the brand’s tone of voice, maintaining the highest level of consistency and precision expected by luxury audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit and adapt US English into UK English, ensuring proper spelling, grammar, and word choice.
  • Review and refine French-to-English translations for clarity and alignment with the brand’s tone of voice.
  • Proofread and sense-check content to maintain consistency and accuracy.
  • Align content with UK-specific legal requirements.
  • Manage large-volume edits.
  • Collaborate with the UK Copywriter to ensure high standards of subediting are maintained.
  • Incorporate feedback from multiple teams (Legal, Marketing, Global) to refine word choices and maintain brand consistency.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in subediting with a strong focus on detail, language, and style.
  • Expertise in both UK and US English is essential; knowledge of French is helpful but not required.
  • Experience working with luxury brand communications is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently, balancing large workloads with precision and efficiency.
  • Familiarity with Excel for content editing and organization.
  • A strong understanding of brand tone and the ability to adapt translations for UK audiences.

Contract Details

  • Commitment: 1 day per week (ongoing).
  • Location: Remote working, but you must be based in the UK.
