Redcar Racecourse is an independent racecourse, hosting flat racing between April and October annually. We are now seeking an experienced, dedicated and proactive individual to take on the position of Head Groundsperson and lead the upkeep and development of our racetrack and grounds.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and maintenance of the turf racing surface and associated grounds
  • Manage a small team of groundstaff and seasonal workers
  • Operate and maintain tractors, machinery and irrigation systems
  • Ensure compliance with BHA regulations and health & safety standards
  • Contribute to planning for course improvements and long-term grounds strategy.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Proven experience in grounds management, preferably in a racing or sports turf environment
  • Obvious leadership and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of machinery and turf management best practices
  • A flexible approach, with the ability to work raceday hours including bank holidays and weekends where necessary
  • Relevant qualifications in turf management or a related discipline (desirable)
  • Good Communication Skills
