A fast-growing, tech-focused organisation undergoing rapid expansion is looking for an outstanding Financial Controller to join them. You’ll be a qualified accountant, ideally with experience in a similar fast-paced environment, and ready to take the next step in your career within a high-growth firm. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will lead a team with the opportunity to develop, grow, and shape the function as the business continues to expand.
You’ll be responsible for preparing and presenting financial reports that drive key business decisions, and your strong interpersonal skills will enable you to effectively support colleagues across the organisation. Key Responsibilities- Management Accounting/Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare monthly management accounts and other financial reports including budgets and KPIs.
- Produce high quality monthly consolidated and entity management accounts, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP, to agreed deadlines with supporting operational analysis.
- Undertake analysis as required on company performance, highlighting areas of concern or risk.
- Develop analysis as required to support the development and subsequent measurement of sales strategies.
- Manage production of the operational and salary cost budget.
- Manage forecasts for the annual business plan and report monthly cost actuals against business plans.
- Present reports to senior management to assist with business planning and decision making and goal achievement.
- Work with the team to ensure that all suppliers are set up in the relevant systems, invoices are entered accurately, and payments are made on time.
- Manage payment runs, ensuring prompt and efficient payment to suppliers.
- Work with the sales support team to ensure that invoices are raised, and cash is collected, on-time and effectively.
- Review aged debtors and liaise with the sales team and collections team to assist with the collection process where required.
- Manage payroll processing (working with outsourced payroll providers) for monthly Sales and Non-Sales payroll cycles.
- Oversee accruals, prepayments and other required transactions to ensure recorded in a timely manner to facilitate an efficient month end close process.
- Oversee reconciliation of bank statements with Xero accounts.
- Perform monthly P&L reviews and prepare associated balance sheet and revenue reconciliations.
- Work with tax advisors to draft corporation tax computations and quarterly VAT returns for processing.
- Manage the annual financial audit and external audits from funders.
- Control income and expenditure ensuring expenditure is in line with budgets.
- Participate in internal meetings as required including team meetings and events.
- Gather and analyse trends within the organisation’s finances.
- Communicate at all levels within the organisation, supporting non-finance colleagues and teams.
- Manage the finance team, advise on problems and suggest improvements.
- Maintain up to date technical skills and qualifications.
- Develop internal documentation and processes where required, striving to implement or improve processes and internal controls within the finance function.
- Qualified Chartered Accountant, ideally with experience gained in a Big4 / Top10 firm.
- Proven experience in an FC or Senior Finance Manager role in a corporate environment.
- Experience in producing monthly consolidated management accounts for a group of companies.
- Experience of managing financial ledgers and implementing necessary processes to manage month end deadlines.
- Excellent knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and risk analysis, with the ability to develop forecast models with sensitivity analysis.
- Knowledge of the financial services sector is desirable, and experience working in the sector would be considered favourably.
- Working knowledge of financial software, ideally proficient in the use of Xero.
- Advanced user of Excel.
- You should be collaborative, and work in partnership to build good working relationships with all colleagues and stakeholders.
- You should be creative and look to continuously improve processes.
- You should be committed and focused on delivering personal objectives to help fulfil the organisation’s mission.
