Position: Traffic Engineer – Permanent, Full Time, Lynton House, Ilford, IG1 1NY
Job Summary: Responsible for the investigation, design and implementation of Traffic Calming, Traffic Management, Road Safety, 20mph Zones, Active Travel and Highway Improvement schemes across the London Borough of Redbridge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate, design and oversee the implementation of traffic and road safety schemes.
- Plan and supervise Traffic Calming, Traffic Management, Road Safety and 20mph Zone schemes.
- Design Active Travel and Highway Improvement projects.
- Ensure quality control and health and safety on site.
- Communicate effectively with residents, contractors, consultants and members of the public.
- Collaborate closely with Traffic and Road Safety Engineering, Highways Engineering, Flooding and Street Lighting teams.
- Contribute to the Highways & Transportation Strategy and support the long‑term resilience of roads, pavements and transport infrastructure.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Relevant experience in the design and supervision of traffic, road safety and active travel schemes.
- Strong technical knowledge in traffic engineering and highway improvement.
- Experience in quality control and health and safety management on site.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and meet deadlines.
