Operating from our flagship studio at Redbrick in Batley, we work with prestigious global fabric and hardware partners - including Silent Gliss, Somfy, and leading designer fabric houses - to deliver immaculate residential and commercial interiors throughout Yorkshire, the UK, and internationally.
While our design studio and showroom are based at Redbrick, our dedicated manufacturing workshop remains conveniently located in Barnsley, just moments from the M1 - anchoring our proud heritage of Yorkshire craftsmanship and allowing seamless project delivery throughout Yorkshire and the North.
We are seeking an exceptionally skilled and detail-oriented Curtain & Soft Furnishings Maker to join our dedicated Yorkshire workshop team.

With over 40 years of British heritage and craftsmanship, Marsh & Co. is a luxury interior design studio and manufacturing house. From initial concept and 3D visualisation to local handcrafted production, we specialise in high-end bespoke cabinetry, fine furniture, and luxury soft furnishings.
In this role, you will handcraft bespoke, made-to-measure curtains, pelmets, roman blinds, and luxury soft furnishings for high-profile client projects. Working directly with top-tier fabrics and high-performance automated systems, you will take pride in producing top-specification finishes that match our exact design standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Handcrafting & Sewing: Hand-sew and machine-stitch high-end bespoke curtains (including pinch pleat, wave, goblet, and pencil pleat headings), interlined drapes, roman blinds, pelmets, cushions, and valances.
- Fabric Prep & Measurement: Precision measuring, pattern matching, cutting, and handling of delicate luxury textiles, velvet, silk, heavy linen, and pattern-matched designer fabrics.
- Digital Orders & Specification: Work proficiently with digital job sheets and workshop IT systems to review order details, technical drawings, drop measurements, and client specifications transmitted from our design studio.
- Quality & Specification: Ensure all finished soft furnishings meet Marsh & Co.βs strict quality control standards, accurate drop measurements, and client specifications.
- Collaborative Workflow: Work closely with our internal design team, workshop managers, and installation technicians to ensure seamless execution from initial technical drawings/renders to final fitting.
- Hardware & Systems Awareness: Prepare curtains to pair effortlessly with specialist tracks, motorised/automated systems (e.g., Silent Gliss, Somfy), and custom window treatments.
- Workshop Maintenance: Keep a clean, organised, and safe workbench and workshop space, managing pattern templates, outgoing orders and fabric stock efficiently.
ABOUT YOU
Proven Experience: Demonstrable experience as a professional curtain maker or soft furnishings seamstress within a high-end interior design or bespoke manufacturing environment.
Craftsmanship: Expertise in traditional hand-finishing techniques (hand-hemming, hand-pinching pleats, stab-stitching, pattern matching) alongside proficient use of industrial sewing machines and overlockers.
Fabric Knowledge: In-depth understanding of diverse fabrics, linings, interlinings,
thermal backings, and stretch behaviours.
Precision & Detail: Outstanding attention to detail, math/measurement accuracy, and high quality standards.
Team Player: Strong communication skills and a positive attitude in a collaborative studio and workshop setting.
