What You Will Be Doing
As a Cyber Security Consultant, you will partner with clients to address a wide range of cyber security challenges. Your work will include defining security policies and strategies, assessing exposure to cyber threats, and recommending proportionate, risk-based security controls. You will provide both advisory and hands‑on support to help clients identify, manage, and mitigate risks to their information and technology assets, ensuring resilience and compliance across their operations. Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:
- Understand business and information risk contexts, including key business drivers, cyber security threats, and implementation challenges.
- Assess risk at both technical and business process levels, and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.
- Evaluate organisational cyber security maturity and develop actionable improvement plans.
- Review security controls against industry frameworks and recommend proportionate enhancements.
- Research and analyse emerging security technologies to support innovative solutions.
- Conduct site visits and perform threat assessments.
- Apply recognised frameworks and methodologies (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, risk management models).
- Produce comprehensive risk assessments and detailed reports.
What Skills and Experience Will You Need?
Education: Undergraduate degree in a cyber‑related discipline or equivalent professional experience.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of core cyber security principles and technical concepts.
Experience: Ability to implement cyber security frameworks and methodologies, with a focus on practical application in operational environments.
Communication: Capable of clearly articulating and presenting security advice, including technical details, to stakeholders at all levels.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience working for or in collaboration with governmental bodies, such as the Ministry of Defence. Practical knowledge of data analytics tools, including Power BI, Power Apps, and related technologies.
Additional Requirements:
Due to the nature of our clients’ work, this role requires eligibility to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance. You must be able to demonstrate the right to work in the UK. Fluent English verbal and written communication skills are essential. Ability and willingness to travel to client sites at least two days per week.
