Our marine client is seeking a skilled Marine Engineer to join their team on a full-time basis in Londonderry. In this hands-on role, you’ll be at the heart of operations—carrying out maintenance and repairs directly on-site. From troubleshooting mechanical issues to ensuring vessels are running at peak performance, no two days will be the same. THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
- Must hold an engineering CoC.
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience.
- Must hold or be able to pass a seafarer medical (ENG 1 or 11).
- Knowledge of health and safety within an industrial environment.
- Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Good knowledge of MS packages including Excel and Word and use of CMMS and training platforms.
- Full current driving licence or access to a form of transport to enable the post holder to meet the requirements of the post in full.
- Foreign national applicants are required to demonstrate advanced proficiency in English, evidenced by a certificate from the British Council or an IELTS test report showing an overall band score of 6.0 or above, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Flexibility at times to work unsocial hours.
- Hold STCW Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency for small commercial vessels under 3,000kW (desirable).
JOB DESCRIPTION
- General vessel maintenance, inspection and repairs of harbour vessels.
- Carry out servicing of equipment and engines.
- Carry out repair work.
- Deal with breakdowns.
- Working closely with the crew to understand problems and carry out fault finding.
- Take a flexible approach to working hours and to work in accordance with operational requirements.
- Maintain all health and safety standards and promote a positive safety culture.
