REDline Facades, part of the RED Systems Group, is growing its specialist design team, led by Colin McCutcheon, and we are looking to speak with experienced Curtain Wall Designers who are open to a new opportunity. This role will suit someone with strong experience in curtain walling, commercial glazing and window systems, who can turn project information into accurate, buildable drawings that work properly for our install teams on site. You will be involved in projects from estimating handover through to construction issue, working closely with our Design Manager, Technical Manager, Estimating, Commercial and Project teams to support live project delivery.
Key responsibilities:
- Producing accurate design drawings and supporting technical information
- Developing practical, buildable design solutions for curtain walling, glazing and window systems
- Reviewing project information, specifications and design comments
- Raising and managing RFIs through to close-out
- Supporting variation identification where design changes arise
- Working to agreed design programmes and project deadlines
- Liaising with internal teams, clients, consultants and external engineers
- Supporting the wider design team with standard details, drawing control and project coordination
We're looking for someone who has:
- Strong curtain walling, commercial glazing and window system design experience
- Good technical understanding of façade and glazing design requirements
- Experience producing drawings for live construction projects
- A practical approach to design, with buildability in mind
- Good communication skills and the confidence to liaise with project teams and clients
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team, and independently where required
Location: Our design office is based in Newcastle upon Tyne. Hybrid or remote working may be considered for experienced candidates in a different location who have the right skills, discipline and communication style to work effectively away from the office.
