Our marine client requires a Workshop Manager to join their expanding terminal and team in Liverpool. As a Workshop Manager you will deliver safe, efficient and compliant services in the workshop in line with company policies and standards and wider business requirements and manage the workshop team.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
- Qualified to a minimum of City & Guilds Level 3 in an Engineering practice or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or have equivalent experience of working in a Port Terminal.
- Good communication skills & management / supervisory experience in a busy workshop is essential.
- It is important that you have a good work ethic with good organisational skills and a positive approach to working safely.
- It is essential that you have a pro-active approach towards problem solving, workload and time management with a good knowledge of Health and Safety.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills as well as proficiency with bespoke and Microsoft systems.
- Ability to prioritise workload whilst working to tight timescales in accordance with company policies.
- A flexible approach to work is necessary as you will be expected to cover when required.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Ensure equipment is serviced and maintained in accordance with the statutory regulations, such as LOLER, PUWER and manufacturer recommendations.
- Ensure KPI’s are met.
- Ensure policy compliance, correct application of repair procedures and engineering principles.
- Liaise with Terminal Managers and Supervisors on the maintenance activities of equipment to minimise disturbance to operations.
- To embrace the development and introduction of policies and procedures to improve expenditure, efficiency and safety of the engineering department.
- To be responsible for related administration and stores procedures for the engineering department.
- Assist in conducting training and development of apprentices and / or fitters.
- Support and direct repairs alongside the team as and when required.
- Carry out quality checks, workshop checks, inductions and control of contractors.
- To be flexible and dynamic in your work ethic and approach to meet demand.
- You will also be required to use various/ bespoke IT programs.
