Our specialist shipping solutions client is recruiting for a Dock Master to join their team, supporting 5 of their dry docks in various locations (Aberdeen, Leith, Greenock, Troon, and Grangemouth). As Dock Master you will initially report directly to the Site Operations Manager.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
- Extensive experience in dry docking, slipping, or Syncrolift operations.
- Must be willing to travel to the Company’s other facilities to carry out similar work.
- Have good written and spoken English.
- Be able to work in a busy and challenging ship repair yard / dry dock environment.
- Be flexible with hours of work with weekday and weekend working aligned to role level and remit.
- Hold a full drivers’ licence.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Expertly manage and coordinate all vessel docking/undocking operations at all 5x dry dock locations.
- Reviewing vessel plans.
- Liaise with naval architects.
- Lead all aspects of the dry docking activity and effectively coordinating the docking teams; and manage dry dock assets and equipment.
- Demonstrate a high commitment to Health and Safety on all sites (including the client sites).
- Be the company’s responsible person for all aspects of the dry dock usage.
- Study vessel docking plans and set out dock blocks in preparation of vessel docking.
- Meet with vessel master and crew to ensure they understand the requirements for their vessel docking.
- Control and direct the team assigned to docking any vessel so that the work is carried out correctly and safely.
- Ensure that all vessels are correctly secured and shored in a professional and safe manner.
- Ensure that the structure of the dry dock, its associated pumping systems, and the dock blocks and shores are maintained.
