Would you like to be part of a pioneering team shaping the future of the offshore industry? Our client based in Suffolk is recruiting a Technical Superintendent. As a Technical Superintendent, you will be responsible for the technical operations of the fleet and will have contact with the vessels and in-house engineers on a regular basis. The Technical Superintendent will be responsible for coordinating work such as proactive maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting as well as dry-dockings and refits at the company’s own facility or shipyards.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
- Technical education and experience preferably in shipping/shipbuilding.
- Experience working on small vessels.
- Prior experience as a Marine Engineer or Technical Superintendent.
- Hands-on experience with dry dock projects, surveys, and refits.
- Working knowledge of vessel operations and onboard systems.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making under time pressure.
- Full UK driving license.
- Technical budgeting and cost control (desirable).
- 5+ years in a similar technical or engineering role, preferably in the maritime or offshore wind sectors (desirable).
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Ensure the technical reliability and efficient maintenance of assigned vessels by coordinating repairs, managing resources, and supporting crews and engineers. Your role will help maximize fleet availability and ensure compliance with technical standards.
- Ensure assigned vessels are technically operational and maintenance/repairs managed in line with the management system.
- Coordinate repairs to ensure minimised downtime.
- Root cause analysis for technical failures - identifying and reporting trends throughout the marine fleet.
- Liaising with Fleet managers, ensuring proactive and planned maintenance is carried out onboard the vessels with engineers and crew.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers.
- Ensures day to day support and advisory with respect to technical requirements of part of the marine fleet.
- Adequate instruction and coaching of crewmembers with regards to onboard maintenance, administration, and vessel/shore reporting.
- Planning and arranging drydocking and refits together with class and flag inspections.
- Attend to vessel dry docking, assisting with repairs/refits and surveys when required and determine specifications for maintenance.
- Manage spare parts stocks and ordering equipment and services for vessels.
- Compile and monitor the budget for projects.
- Coordinates technical activities in close cooperation with relevant departments.
- Together with Technical Manager supervise and instruct Shore-Based Engineers and arrange 3rd party assistance when required.
- Verifying applicable technical rules and regulations and monitor changes.
- Utilise the electronic planned maintenance system coordinating repairs and maintenance when due.
- Where required, implement and maintain PMS.
