We are recruiting for a Marine Superintendent to join our marine client based in Orkney. This role is a permanent position working with our marine client 30 hours per week. The Marine Superintendent would ensure safe operations of the vessels and compliance with all Maritime regulations pertinent to the operation of UK Passenger Vessels. You will work within a team in the implementation and upkeep of the Safety Management System (SMS) and will be required to conduct regular ship/office audits/inspections to ensure compliance to the statutory requirements of the ISM, ISPS, MLC and various ISO standards. You are also responsible for providing guidance to the Masters on board on navigational matters and promoting and developing a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

- Good understanding, knowledge and experience of ISM, ISPS, SOLAS, MARPOL, Marine Operations.
- Experienced with ISM/ISPS/MLC/ISO auditing and incident investigation.
- Dry Docking and/or vessel construction experience in a management position.
- Certificate of Competency (Deck).
- Approachable with a positive and practical outlook.
- Ability to manage and present statistics.
- Willing to travel to vessels and offices both within and out with Orkney.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Carry out all Designated Person Ashore (DPA) duties as per ISM code.
- Conduct internal ISM/ISPS/MLC/ISO audits and inspections for assigned vessels.
- Prepare vessels for external ISM/ISPS/MLC/ISO audits and assist the Vessel Teams with developing corrective and preventive actions and root cause analysis from internal and external ISM/ISPS/MLC/ISO audits and follow up for closure.
- Conduct internal audits for all offices and company premises.
- Assist in preparations for external office DoC audits / client inspections.
- Monitoring and maintaining company and vessel certification.
- Member of Shoreside Emergency Response Team.
- Prepare review meetings and present incident investigation reports and statistics for senior management where required.
- You also prepare lessons learned and preventive actions from incidents, NCRs and share across the fleet.
- Work on maintaining Safety Management System (SMS) updates with consistent improvement to produce quality, accuracy, adequate and efficient procedures.
- You provide and develop constructive new ideas.
- Advise the vessel teams/shore organisation on compliance with any upcoming rules / regulations and carry out training for SMS procedures for crew onboard and shore organisation.
