Are you ready to navigate your career to new heights? We’re on the lookout for a talented Marine Operations Manager & Designated Person Ashore (DPA) to join our client in Southampton. This is a critical leadership role with a focus on ensuring the highest standards of marine safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
- DPA and CSO qualifications required (essential)
- Ships Master certificate of competency preferred
- ISM auditor
- Significant experience with management of HSEQ
- High degree of commercial awareness
- Significant seafaring experience in senior role, preferably as Master
- Experience working in shore based ship management required
- Working in marine aggregate industry distinct advantage
- Must hold a full driving licence
JOB DESCRIPTION
- To provide to the company and vessels technical navigation and nautical advice on relevant legislation, equipment, standards and procedures.
- To assume the legal role of DPA and CSO.
- To assume statutory role of Designated Person Ashore for the company’s Safety Management System and through it to ensure ongoing compliance with international and national rules and regulations.
- Issuing ship notices, fleet directives, manage company emergency drills.
- Managing ship certification – including database management.
- Organise and review internal and external audits across the fleet and the safety management system.
- To advise on and ensure implementation of all existing and new statutory requirements in co-operation with the Fleet Management Team and advice on their incorporation into Company Policies and Procedures as required.
- To ensure H&S compliance, investigate and report on all accidents and incidents.
- Undertake lead role in ensuring ISO 14001 compliance and in conjunction with office management lead role in obtaining ISO 9001 accreditation.
- Liaison with authorities from ports, flag states and classification societies to ensure vessel compliance.
- To undertake the management of ships operational services together with laundry and victualing requirements, bridge and nautical equipment, publications, charts and log books.
- To provide, as appropriate, to vessels, Fleet Management and Production and Resources departments technical advice concerning port interfaces, berths and pilotage requirements.
- To undertake job related projects as and when required.
- To act as a member of the weekend duty management team.
