This is an exciting opportunity to join the Strategic Housing team, delivering high-quality housing management services that support tenants, communities and neighbourhoods across Torquay.
This is a temporary contract for an initial 12-week period, starting ASAP. The role is based on site in Torquay, with some flexibility for hybrid working. The pay rate for this position is between £16.35 and £17.85 per hour, dependent on experience. Please note you must have your own vehicle.
Responsibilities- Deliver a high-quality housing management service including tenancy management, neighbourhood management, arrears control, lettings and anti-social behaviour casework.
- Manage a portfolio of properties, schemes and estates, ensuring they are maintained to a high standard.
- Support tenants to sustain their tenancies, identifying support needs and signposting to relevant services.
- Manage rent accounts and arrears, providing advice on income maximisation and welfare benefits.
- Investigate tenancy breaches, including anti-social behaviour, and take appropriate action including legal proceedings where required.
- Carry out property and estate inspections, recording outcomes and ensuring follow-up actions are completed.
- Assist with lettings processes, including void inspections, tenancy sign-ups and new tenant visits.
- Respond to emergency situations, including urgent repairs, ASB incidents and safeguarding concerns.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors and external agencies such as police and social services.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with housing legislation, policies and data protection requirements.
- Support customer and community engagement activities to improve satisfaction and service delivery.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with tenants and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage a varied workload, prioritise effectively and work under pressure.
- Experience of working in a housing or similar environment, managing tenancy-related issues.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience of dealing with challenging situations and vulnerable individuals.
- Knowledge of housing legislation, welfare benefits and safeguarding principles.
- Experience of rent arrears management, estate inspections and tenancy support.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong administrative and record-keeping skills.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- This role is subject to a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
- Candidates must be able to travel across the Torbay area and occasionally work outside normal hours.
- A commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults is essential.
