Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for Senior Commercial Managers on behalf of a major police force in London. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced commercial and procurement professionals to play a key role in delivering complex procurement activity, strategic contract management, and commercial governance within a large public sector organisation.
Location: Victoria, London (Hybrid β 3 days per week in the office)
Contract: Temporary Contract β 6 Months
Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 9:00am β 5:00pm
Rate: Β£500 per day
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver complex procurement exercises in compliance with procurement legislation, Cabinet Office best practice, and organisational governance requirements.
- Manage multiple procurement projects, ensuring operational requirements are effectively captured and deliver best value for money.
- Challenge stakeholders, including senior leaders, to ensure specifications are outcome-focused, unbiased, and aligned to organisational needs.
- Provide expert commercial advice throughout tendering, evaluation, contract award, and contract management processes.
- Ensure procurement decisions are evidence-based, objective, and capable of withstanding supplier challenge.
- Draft and manage compliant contract variations that enhance service delivery and maximise value.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of procurement strategies, commercial governance frameworks, and reporting processes.
- Lead strategic supplier management activities and provide commercial oversight for major contracts.
- Support the delivery of procurement programmes that improve supplier performance, mitigate risk, and maximise contract value.
- Develop and monitor procurement KPIs, scorecards, and performance metrics to provide insight and support informed decision-making.
- Participate in complex commercial negotiations and contract drafting to secure favourable commercial outcomes.
- Identify opportunities for savings, efficiencies, and innovation through market analysis and benchmarking activities.
- Support the development and management of procurement pipelines, dashboards, and supplier performance reporting.
Person Specification:
- Significant experience in public sector procurement and commercial management.
- Strong knowledge of UK procurement legislation and public procurement best practice.
- Demonstrable experience leading complex procurement exercises and contract negotiations.
- Proven ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent commercial acumen with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing strategic suppliers and complex contractual arrangements.
- Ability to interpret and draft commercial contracts and contract variations.
- Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience developing performance frameworks, KPIs, and procurement reporting.
- Professional procurement qualification (e.g. CIPS) is desirable.
Specialist Requirements:
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo Management Vetting (MV) clearance.
- Experience working within policing, central government, local government, or other regulated public sector environments would be advantageous.
