Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for an Infrastructure and Network Associate for a Financial Regulatory body. The Digital Forensic Unit is working towards ISO 17025 and the Forensic Science Regulator Code of Practice, which is part of a wider transformation programme, in line with the FCA Strategy.
You will:
- Be part of a highly specialised team of engineers to build a high-performing and innovative digital forensics service
- Play a key role in a nationally significant regulatory body with a strong focus on digital investigation
- Work with advanced forensic tools and infrastructure to support complex investigations
Location: Stratford (with occasional travel to Leeds office.)
Contract: 3 months initially, but could be extended.
Salary: £28.57 PAYE / £37.58 UMB per hour.
Main Responsibilities:
You will work closely with a supportive team who value collaboration and continuous improvement. You will be part of our Secure IT team, delivering reliable 1st and 2nd line support 24/7/365 to keep our systems running smoothly every day. It’s a hands-on role with plenty of variety, where you’ll troubleshoot issues, support colleagues across the business, and help maintain the secure environments our customers depend on. You will shape the future of our digital forensics team by supporting strategic planning and compliance ensuring alignment with ISO 17025, the Forensic Science Code of Practice and FCA policies built on NIST standards.
Person Specification:
Minimum:
- Provide 1st -2nd line IT support, work queue tickets and answer general technical queries.
- Implementing hardware, software, deliver secure OS builds, software patching, switch configuration, upgrade existing systems, security controls, Active Directory and Certification management.
- Audit systems to ensure that asset/lifecycle management records are kept up to date.
- Aligned with business, application and data domains, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support data unification and standardisation, enabling actionable insights and consistent reporting for leadership decision-making.
Essential:
- Strong IT background and organisational skills with hands-on systems administration experience across Windows, Linux, and virtualised environments (such as Hyper‑V).
- Proficient in scripting and automation (e.g. PowerShell) with working knowledge of deployment technologies and core technical concepts such as hashing.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders while maintaining a strong focus on end-user satisfaction.
- Broad awareness of technology trends and enterprise architecture, with the ability to apply architectural principles to practical business solutions.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development, with an interest in achieving industry certifications (CompTIA Network + and/or CCNA, Palo Alto).
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve operating system, application, and infrastructure issues effectively and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively across technical and business domains.
- Solid understanding of IT security policies, commitment to maintaining secure environments with the ability to quickly adopt and test new technologies in fast-paced, regulated settings (e.g. ISO 17025).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, supporting reporting, strategic messaging, and bid/document preparation.
Useful information:
This role will require supporting operations out of hours as part of an on-call support rota with additional payments. This role will be 100% London Laboratory based with occasional travel to Leeds.
