Red Snapper Recruitment is currently seeking qualified Probation Officers to join a number of clients across England for remote Pre-Sentencing Report writing roles. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced practitioners to focus on high-quality report writing in a structured and collaborative environment, with flexible remote working arrangements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing PSRs for courts, including assessments, risk evaluations, and sentencing recommendations. This role requires excellent written communication, sound professional judgement, and the ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with colleagues and partner agencies.

Job Summary

  • Location: Remote (across England)
  • Contract Type: Temporary, with extension potential
  • Hours: Full-time or Part-time options available
  • Rate: Competitive PAYE / Umbrella rates, depending on location

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed Pre-Sentencing Reports (PSRs) for courts.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide professional recommendations to inform sentencing decisions.
  • Engage with individuals on probation to gather information and assess rehabilitation needs.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, courts, and other agencies to ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality reports.
  • Maintain case records and input information into probation case management systems.

Essential Requirements

  • Professional qualification in probation (DipPS, DipSW with PQF, or equivalent recognised by HMPPS).
  • Experience in report writing, particularly PSRs or similar probation documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting while contributing to a wider team.
