Red Snapper is currently seeking a qualified Probation Officer. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced PO, including those who may have left the service in recent years. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of people on probation, including those assessed as high or very high risk. The role will involve assessment, risk management, report writing, court liaison, and inter-agency working. This is an on-site role requiring regular attendance at the office and in-person contact with service users, partner agencies, and courts. Job Summary: Location: Crown House, Newcastle Ave, Worksop S80 1ET Contract Type: Temporary, 6 months with possibility of extension Hours: 37 hours per week Rate: 21.75 p/h PAYE or 28.64 p/h Umbrella

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise a caseload of individuals on probation, including those subject to community orders, licences, and custodial sentences.
  • Complete assessments and produce high-quality written reports for courts, the Parole Board, and other agencies.
  • Attend and contribute to key risk and safeguarding forums such as MAPPA and MARAC.
  • Deliver or co-facilitate accredited programmes (where appropriate).
  • Use case management systems to record interventions, progress, and risk updates accurately and promptly.
  • Work closely with colleagues, partner agencies, and services to manage risk, prevent re-offending, and support rehabilitation.
  • Provide professional guidance and support to Probation Services Officers and other junior staff.
  • Undertake prison visits, home visits, and other off-site meetings where required.

Essential Requirements

  • Professional Qualification in Probation (DipPS, DipSW with PQF, or equivalent recognised by HMPPS).
  • Experience of managing complex cases and applying professional judgement in risk assessment and sentence planning.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write court reports.
  • Confident working collaboratively with internal and external partners.
  • Recent probation experience is desirable, though the client is open to those who have left the service in recent years and are looking to return.
