Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a Police Sergeant to be stationed on Ascension Island for up to an initial 6-month period.
Location: Ascension Island
Contract: up to 6-months
Salary: £13.06 PAYE / £17.49 UMB/LTD Company per hour (Outside IR35) with rent-free accommodation, all bills included.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- To undertake the role of Emergency Planning Officer for Ascension Island.
- To undertake the role of Superintendent of Prisons in accordance with the Prisons (Ascension) Ordinance, 1960.
- To undertake the role of Chief Immigration Officer, working together with the Administrator of Ascension Island in relation to Entry Control.
- To undertake the role of Licensing Officer and to supervise and advise the register of vehicle and post office staff, driver examiners and motor vehicle examiners.
- Provide operational leadership and line management to the uniformed police officers.
- Community policing, working with key partners and stakeholders to maintain and enhance community engagement and neighbourhood policing.
- Investigation/Supervision of crime and other incidents.
- Ensure public events are well planned, efficiently policed and reviewed and that relevant learning is recorded for future reference.
- Following the receipt of actionable intelligence, to instigate investigations into suspected offences.
- Promote both internally and externally the safeguarding agenda.
- Undertake training needs analysis and, with the Inspector (Training & Development), develop appropriate training plans to develop staff.
Person Specification:
- You'll have operational experience as a U.K. police sergeant or qualified for promotion with a full and clean driving licence for a motor car.
- You must be fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Experience of interviewing witnesses and suspects and a working knowledge of PACE is essential.
- It will be an advantage for you to be able to demonstrate strong evidence of your investigative skills, witness/victim statement taking, knowledge of roads policing and drink/drive procedures and community policing and problem-solving skills.
