Red Snapper Managed Services are looking for an Immediate Justice Youth Supervisor on a 6-month fixed term contract (potential for extension) in Nottinghamshire. We offer: * £33,000 (pro rata) * 20 days holiday plus Bank Holidays – pro rata * 20 hours per week, including some evenings and 1 x Saturday shift Overview of role: Red Snapper Managed Services is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our growing Immediate Justice team. Immediate Justice is an initiative that is being rolled out by various areas in line with the government\’s Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Strategy. This role will work directly with young people who are subject to an out of court disposal. You will be supporting service users to engage in positive acts of service for the community and dissuading them from further offending behaviour. Therefore, it is vital you have an interest in supporting young people to make positive changes in their lives. You will need to be organised, caring, engaging, non-judgemental and be able to address challenging behaviour. Your work will directly contribute to efforts for reducing reoffending and helping often marginalised groups of people engage in pro-social activities. This is an operational role directly supervising lone young offenders. This may include driving service vehicles to transport equipment and so a driving licence will be essential. This role is subject to successful police vetting and an enhanced DBS. The post holder will: * Set up partnerships and placements with local charities, organisations and community groups for service users. These placements will provide visible evidence of the reparative work being undertaken by the offenders, whilst being seen as a credible punishment. * Work on varied projects that involve practical tasks such as working in local food banks, voluntary organisations and local parks. * Exercise appropriate authority to maintain good behaviour within working groups, alerting the relevant staff to any infringement of discipline or behaviour. * Contribute towards the rehabilitative potential of the caution and will support some service users to gain additional skills through a positive work experience with the opportunity to gain vocational or skills-based training. * Be required to undertake weekend and/or evening working as part of their normal pattern of working. * The work may involve working alongside volunteers or staff from partner organisations. Responsibilities: * To deliver workshops of various themes to young offenders individually at locations specified. * Conduct On Placement Immediate Justice Induction sessions. * Conduct a start of the day \’toolbox\’ talk to ensure all service users understand the task at hand and safe working practice and motivate and support service users to complete their Caution. * Follow work directions within the project placement brief. * Ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed, alerting the relevant staff to any risk, ensuring that any associated paperwork is completed accurately and on time as * Ensure that appropriate tools, equipment and supplies are available in accordance with local procedure and that instructions for safe use are followed by service users. * Conduct a dynamic risk assessment to ensure all hazards are noted and managed. * Use pro-social and other motivational techniques to ensure that service users complete the work assigned in a disciplined and well-behaved manner. * Monitor the attendance of service users allocated to agency placements and promote successful completions. Attendance, placement completions and fails to attend/comply must be relayed to the Criminal Justice Team by email. * Maintain all service users\’ records in accordance with organisational requirements ensuring that all information is updated onto the record system in a timely and accurate manner. * Contribute towards promoting Immediate Justice with colleagues, external agencies, Sentencers and the public. * The job holder must at all times demonstrate a commitment to equality and inclusion and an understanding of their relevance to the work they do. * The post holder must adhere to all policies in respect of the sensitive/confidential nature of the information handled whilst working in this position. Person Specification/Experience 1. Passion for Rehabilitation Demonstrates a strong interest in supporting individuals, particularly young people, in making positive life changes and reducing reoffending behaviour. 2. Organisational Skills Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks, schedules, and responsibilities, ensuring all duties are completed efficiently and on time. 3. Empathy and Non-Judgemental Approach Displays a caring and non-judgemental attitude towards service users, understanding the importance of treating all individuals with respect and dignity. 4. Authority and Leadership Capable of exercising appropriate authority to maintain discipline and good behaviour within groups, particularly when working with challenging individuals. 5. Experience in Youth or Community Work Previous experience working with youth, community projects, or within a justice-related environment is highly desirable, demonstrating an understanding of the challenges faced by marginalized groups. 6. Driving Licence Possession of a valid car driving licence is essential, with the ability to transport equipment as needed for various projects. 7. Health and Safety Awareness/Safeguarding principles Knowledgeable about basic First Aid, Health & Safety practices, with the ability to conduct risk assessments and ensure a safe working environment for all participants. Must have an awareness of safeguarding, with the ability to highlight and respond to safeguarding issues immediately. 8. Flexibility and Availability Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the service and the availability of service users. 9. Effective Communication Skills Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver workshops, conduct briefings, and maintain accurate records and reports. 10.
