About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering and infrastructure specialist for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team. The successful candidate will provide commercial support across a range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects, including water, transport, energy, and built environment sectors. The role involves working closely with project delivery teams to manage costs, drive efficiencies, and ensure financial control of projects. You will be responsible for contract management, subcontractor procurement, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and the identification of commercial opportunities, all within a collaborative and fast-paced environment. You will work across projects ranging from established frameworks to bespoke civil engineering schemes and unplanned emergency works, developing expertise in both contractual management and project financial oversight.
Responsibilities
- Manage project costs, forecasting, and cash flow reporting.
- Prepare applications for payment and final account settlements.
- Procure and manage subcontractors, ensuring contract compliance.
- Support project teams in mitigating commercial risks and realising opportunities.
- Maintain accurate financial records, including cost reporting and accruals.
- Advise site teams on cost management and commercial efficiencies.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, supply chain, and project teams.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in the construction or civil engineering industry.
- Strong knowledge of IChemE or NEC forms of contract.
- Experience in commercial management, subcontract procurement, and cost analysis.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills and numeracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
Desirable
- Membership of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards.
- HND/degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
- Experience working for a direct delivery contractor.
- CSCS card.
