Overview
In this Chief Engineer role, you drive overall system architecture with a hardware emphasis and a strong software understanding. You will lead critical design decisions, trade studies, and translate customer requirements into system and subsystem specifications. You’ll collaborate with government customers and shape internal technical roadmaps to keep Red 6 at the leading edge. This position sits at the intersection of hardware and software, enabling scalable AR-based training for defense applications. You will work cross-functionally to deliver impactful, certified electromechanical systems and ensure DoD-aligned execution.

Responsibilities
- Define and drive the system architecture for hardware-centric and HW/SW integrated solutions
- Lead design decisions and trade studies to meet product requirements
- Translate customer needs into actionable system and subsystem specifications
- Collaborate with government customers to align technical roadmaps with evolving requirements
- Guide cross-functional teams across hardware, software, and validation activities
- Support certification and compliance planning for defense contexts
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Key requirements
- 15+ years of experience in system engineering, hardware design, and technical leadership in simulation, AR, VR or related defense/aerospace industries
- Proven expertise in system architecture design with HW/SW integration and systems integration
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive decisions on complex technical issues and trades
- System analysis ensuring subsystems meet product requirements
