Red Sector Recruitment are currently partnering with a well-established independent veterinary practice in West Sussex that is looking to welcome an experienced Veterinary Surgeon into its growing team. If you’re ready to take the next step in your career — particularly within an exotics-focused environment — this is a rare opportunity. The practice already has an exotics vet in place, but demand is high and appointments are consistently oversubscribed. There is also the added benefit of working with a local zoo caseload, offering genuine variety and the chance to develop advanced skills in exotics and zoo medicine.
The Opportunity
This is a progressive, independently owned practice that places real emphasis on team wellbeing, clinical freedom, and high standards of patient care. With continued expansion underway, including a new branch opening, they are seeking a confident Veterinary Surgeon (ideally 5+ years’ experience) to join their supportive and collaborative team. The practice prides itself on creating a positive working culture where vets are empowered, listened to, and given the tools they need to thrive. Many team members have long tenures, reflecting the strong internal culture and commitment to staff development.
Clinical Environment
- Strong and growing exotics caseload, alongside small animal work
- Involvement with zoo patients, adding a unique dimension to the role
- Thoughtfully structured consultations (15 minutes standard, longer for complex cases)
- Dedicated time built into the diary for administration
- Modern communication tools to streamline client interaction
- On-site inpatient care supported by a dedicated night nursing team
Working Pattern & Package
- Flexible shift patterns: 8 or 10-hour days (your choice)
- Approximately 1 in 6 Saturdays
- Salary range: £50,000 – £65,000 FTE (dependent on experience)
- Overtime and weekend work returned as time off in lieu
