The practice already has an exotics vet in place, but demand is high and appointments are consistently oversubscribed. There is also the added benefit of working with a local zoo caseload, offering genuine variety and the chance to develop advanced skills in exotics and zoo medicine.

The Opportunity

This is a progressive, independently owned practice that places real emphasis on team wellbeing, clinical freedom, and high standards of patient care. With continued expansion underway, including a new branch opening, they are seeking a confident Veterinary Surgeon (ideally 5+ years’ experience) to join their supportive and collaborative team. The practice prides itself on creating a positive working culture where vets are empowered, listened to, and given the tools they need to thrive. Many team members have long tenures, reflecting the strong internal culture and commitment to staff development.

Clinical Environment

  • Strong and growing exotics caseload, alongside small animal work
  • Involvement with zoo patients, adding a unique dimension to the role
  • Thoughtfully structured consultations (15 minutes standard, longer for complex cases)
  • Dedicated time built into the diary for administration
  • Modern communication tools to streamline client interaction
  • On-site inpatient care supported by a dedicated night nursing team

Working Pattern & Package

  • Flexible shift patterns: 8 or 10-hour days (your choice)
  • Approximately 1 in 6 Saturdays
  • Salary range: £50,000 – £65,000 FTE (dependent on experience)
  • Overtime and weekend work returned as time off in lieu

Benefits

  • RCVS and VDS fees fully covered
  • Professional memberships funded (e.g. BSAVA)
  • Generous CPD allowance with support for further qualifications/certificates
  • 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Option to purchase additional leave
  • Increased holiday entitlement with length of service
  • Private medical insurance available via salary sacrifice

This is an excellent role for a vet looking to step into a more diverse and exotics-led position within a genuinely independent setting, where your voice matters and your career development is actively supported.
