Are you an experienced vet with a passion for emergency and critical care? Looking for a fulfilling night role that offers clinical challenge, career development, and serious time off?

We’re recruiting on behalf of a family-run, purpose-built 24-hour veterinary hospital in Leeds, seeking a dedicated OOH Veterinary Surgeon to join their night team on a 7 nights on / 14 nights off rota. This is an exciting chance to be part of a growing ECC service within a newly refurbished, fully equipped hospital offering a truly supportive, progressive environment.

About the Hospital:

This RCVS-accredited hospital provides OOH and referral support to over 15 local practices, alongside a busy first opinion service – meaning you’ll get the best of both worlds: complex, rewarding cases with the opportunity to see them through. The hospital was recently refurbished to industry-leading standards and is fitted with state-of-the-art equipment, including:

  • IDEXX in-house lab
  • Digital radiography & ultrasound
  • Dental suite with IM3 dental X-ray
  • Endoscopy & ECG
  • Tonopen & orthopaedic kit
  • Negative pressure wound therapy
  • Facilities for advanced procedures (e.g. Seldinger chest drains, oesophageal tubes, silicone peritoneal drains, TFAST/AFST)

You’ll be working with a tight-knit and experienced night team, including an RVN, 2 VCAs, a receptionist and support from twilight RVNs until midnight. Day and night teams collaborate closely, with 15 vets across the practice and a total headcount of 70, ensuring a team-oriented and clinically supportive environment.

The Role:

This is a true ECC position for a confident and motivated vet who enjoys the pace and clinical variety of night work. You'll be supported to manage advanced cases including:

  • Caesareans, pyometras, laparotomies with enterotomy/enterectomy
  • Addisonian crises, DKA, severe pancreatitis
  • Chest/abdominal drains, urinary catheters, endoscopy
  • Emergency medical and surgical interventions

Rota:

  • 7 nights on, 14 nights off
  • 8pm – 8am
  • Flexibility to locum elsewhere during your time off, if desired

Development & Support:

  • £1,500 CPD allowance (with certificate support available)
  • Mentorship from in-house certificate holders in surgery, medicine and dentistry
  • Proactive internal CPD and clinical development opportunities
