Exciting opportunity for a Mixed Veterinary Surgeon at Overdale Veterinary Practice in Derbyshire. Our clients in Buxton invite experienced Veterinary Surgeons to embark on an exciting career opportunity within their dynamic team. Nestled in the charming spa town of Buxton in the heart of the Peak District, the practice offers a stimulating mix of small animal (70-80%), farm (20-30%, mainly beef and sheep), and equine work.
The ideal candidate is an accomplished Veterinarian eager to further develop their mixed practice skills. The practice values flexibility, considering both full-time and part-time applicants. Full-time roles include a 40-hour workweek across 5 days (8:30 am – 5:30 pm). On-call duties, managed internally with external call centre support, cover both large and small animal work, with a small animal nurse available for assistance. The on-call rota typically involves 1 in 7 weekends, contingent on staffing levels, with compensatory time off during the week. Saturday morning consulting follows a 1 in 7 rota (dependent on staffing), with compensatory time off provided.
The clinic takes pride in delivering high-quality clinical care. The facility includes:
- 3 small animal consulting rooms
- A dedicated operating theatre
- An imaging suite with digital x-ray, ultrasound, and endoscopy capabilities
- A prep area with dental facilities
- An in-house laboratory
Large animal work spans routine herd health on larger dairy farms to ambulatory work on smaller beef and sheep farms. Equine services cover 1st opinion work, pre-purchase examinations, portable x-rays for lameness workups, routine surgeries, and general 1st opinion emergency work. The team, consisting of 5 full-time and 3 part-time vets, offers a breadth of experience, including certificate holders in small animal medicine.
