Veterinary Surgeon – Integrative & Holistic Practice

South Glasgow | Full-Time | Β£40,000 – Β£60,000 DOE

Red Sector Recruitment is delighted to be working with a forward-thinking, independent veterinary practice in South Glasgow to recruit an experienced Veterinary Surgeon. This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to join a well-established, integrative and holistic practice that is redefining first-opinion veterinary care in Scotland.

This role would suit a Veterinary Surgeon who values patient-centred care, strong client relationships and clinical autonomy, and who is either experienced in, or open to, integrative and complementary medicine alongside conventional veterinary practice.

The Opportunity

This is a full-time Veterinary Surgeon position within a busy, independent small animal practice serving a loyal and engaged client base across Glasgow and the surrounding Southside communities. Clients actively seek a practice that offers choice, transparency and a holistic approach to their pets’ health and wellbeing.

The practice offers everything you would expect from a high-quality first opinion clinic β€” consulting, surgery, diagnostics and inpatient care β€” while also embracing a broad range of complementary and integrative therapies, including:

  • Acupuncture
  • Herbal medicine
  • Laser therapy
  • Nutrition-focused care and education

Whether you already have experience in integrative medicine or are a more conventional vet with a curiosity to expand your skill set, full support, mentorship and funded training are available.

Why This Practice?

  • Truly integrative and holistic ethos β€” combining evidence-based conventional medicine with complementary therapies
  • Independent practice with authentic, flexible leadership
  • Strong emphasis on wellbeing, culture and team happiness
  • 20-minute consultations, protected admin time and no out-of-hours
  • A judgement-free, compassionate environment for clients, patients and staff
  • Excellent reputation across Glasgow for personalised, ethical veterinary care

The team is multi-disciplinary, highly supportive and united by shared values. Collaboration, communication and kindness are central to how the practice operates β€” both internally and with clients.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon who:

  • Is experienced in first-opinion practice
  • Enjoys building long-term client relationships
  • Communicates clearly, empathetically and confidently
  • Values evidence-based medicine while being open to integrative approaches
  • Works well within a close-knit, supportive team

An interest in surgery, integrative medicine, nutrition or additional qualifications would be advantageous but is by no means essential β€” development is actively encouraged.

Salary & Benefits

Salary: Β£40,000 – Β£60,000 DOE (with scope for higher earnings based on experience and qualifications)

  • 28 days annual leave plus 7 bank holidays and birthday leave
  • Uncapped CPD allowance (within reason)
  • Funded optional courses:
  • Western Veterinary Acupuncture (Β£1,000)
  • Western Veterinary Herbal Medicine (Β£1,250)
  • RCVS membership paid
  • VDS cover
  • Regular in-house CPD tailored to the team
  • Heavily discounted veterinary fees (20–50%)
  • 20% retail discount
  • Company sick pay
  • Free uniform
  • Third-party wellness coach and strong focus on wellbeing
  • No OOHs
  • 1 in 4 Saturdays
  • 1-hour paid lunch break
  • Modern equipment including digital & dental radiography, IDEXX Sedivue and cryotherapy
  • Barista-quality coffee machine β˜•
  • Regular social events and company-wide activities
  • Pension scheme
  • On-site parking
  • Structured leadership with clear clinical and operational support
  • Location
