The Band 4 Senior Community Carer provides high-quality, person-centred care and support to children and young people with complex health needs within their home environment. Working as part of the Children's Continuing Care Service, the post holder will be responsible for delivering safe and effective overnight care, promoting the child's wellbeing, comfort, dignity, and independence wherever possible.
The role requires significant experience in caring for children with complex medical needs, including tracheostomy care, enteral feeding, and other delegated healthcare interventions. The post holder will work collaboratively with families, nursing teams, and multidisciplinary professionals to ensure care plans are implemented safely and effectively.
Essential Criteria
- Qualifications
- Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Evidence of relevant clinical training relating to complex care.
- Experience
- Significant experience working with children or young people with complex healthcare needs.
- Experience providing overnight care in community, home care, or healthcare settings.
- Proven experience in:
- Tracheostomy care and management.
- Tracheostomy suctioning and emergency procedures.
- Enteral feeding and PEG tube management.
- Monitoring and responding to changes in a child's clinical condition.
- Experience maintaining accurate care records and documentation.
