Job Purpose

The HSEQ advisor supports the department in all aspects of implementing the company management system across its sites.

Focusing on day-to-day activities concerning the onshore wind farm sites and the corporate business the adviser will also perform a range of practical duties, that range across quality, environment and sustainability, wellbeing, and health and safety.

Time to be split between the sites and Edinburgh office.

Job Description

  • 1. Site visit once per week on average over a month (not rigid):
    • Site inspections
    • Audits
    • Contractor HSE meetings
  • 2. Reviews of risk assessments and method statements – supporting department with creation and review of risk assessment and method statements:
    • Contractor RAMS
    • Staff RAMS
  • 3. Administration of the main quality tool – My-Compliance:
    • ensuring workflows, inputs and outputs all meet wider business need
    • production of reports
    • action tracking
    • dashboards
  • 4. Supporting the Asset Management team in implementation of site safety management plans, environment management plans, and asset management plans:
    • Contractor HSE meetings
    • Asset HSE registers
    • Management of PPE inventory
  • 5. Quality support
    • Supporting all departments in the documenting of processes on Visio
    • Support with root cause analysis and audits
  • 6. Corporate tasks to support the department include:
    • Collation of all HSE metrics and KPIs for reporting
    • Production of safety moments, bulletins and other promotional material
    • Creation of summary reports and analysis of all HSE data monthly and quarterly
    • First Aid cover when in office
    • Fire Marshall cover when in office
    • Review of all observations submitted and allocation of actions
    • Legionella testing in office

Skills

Essential

  • Clear and confident communicator, able to engage effectively with employees and contractors
  • Proactive approach to identifying HSEQ risks and improvements
  • Able to constructively challenge unsafe or non-compliant practices
  • Able to work independently on routine HSEQ activities and as part of a wider team
  • Excellent written skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft 365
  • Able to undertake operational wind farm site visits and complete required site safety training, including GWO where applicable.
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Experience of offroad driving

Knowledge and Experience Required

Essential

  • 3+ years' relevant HSEQ/HSE experience
  • Experience of site inspections, RAMS review and contractor HSE engagement
  • Practical knowledge of risk assessment and risk management
  • Experience supporting audits, corrective actions and HSEQ reporting
  • Construction or operational asset experience

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001, 45003 and 14001 management systems
  • Renewables industry experience, preferably onshore wind
  • Knowledge of CDM

Qualifications

Essential

  • NEBOSH certificate or equivalent qualification

Desirable

  • IEMA certificate of equivalent qualification
  • Current GWO certification
  • Current First Aid at Work / Emergency First Aid qualification
