A growing and well-established engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their expanding commercial team. Operating across commercial, industrial and specialist engineering sectors, the business delivers high-quality mechanical and electrical solutions throughout the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Estimator with experience pricing HVAC, pipework, ventilation and mechanical building services projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in the tendering process, preparing accurate cost estimates and supporting the business in securing new projects.
The role will involve the use of estimating and tender management systems including Eveta and Coupa, so previous experience with these platforms is essential.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare accurate mechanical estimates and tender submissions for commercial and industrial projects
- Interpret drawings, specifications and technical documents
- Produce detailed take-offs and cost breakdowns for labour, materials and subcontract packages
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
- Use Eveta and Coupa tendering systems to manage and submit tenders
- Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings where required
- Work closely with project managers, engineers and the commercial team
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions
- Ensure tenders are submitted within deadlines and company procedures
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the M&E or Building Services sector
- Strong understanding of HVAC, ventilation, pipework and mechanical installations
- Experience using estimating software and tender portals
- Knowledge of Eveta and Coupa systems preferred
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously
- Proficient with Microsoft Office packages including Excel
- HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services preferred
- Relevant trade background or industry experience considered
- Full UK Driving Licence preferred
- £40,000 - £50,000 salary depending on experience
