An experienced Mechanical Site Supervisor is required to support the delivery of a major NHS decarbonisation project involving the replacement of steam services with modern Low Temperature Hot Water (LTHW) infrastructure across a live hospital campus. This is a non-working supervisory role overseeing mechanical installation teams delivering complex plant room refurbishments, energy centre upgrades, and large-scale carbon steel pipework installations. The successful candidate will supervise labour resources, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure works are delivered safely and in accordance with the project's technical specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day mechanical installation activities across multiple work areas.
- Coordinate installation teams working on plant rooms, energy centres, risers, and distribution networks.
- Oversee the installation of:
- Biomass boiler systems
- Air source heat pumps
- Gas-fired plant
- Pressurisation units
- Buffer vessels
- Pumps and associated mechanical equipment
- Large-diameter carbon steel pipework systems
- Manage labour resources, materials, plant, and subcontractors.
- Ensure installations are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Carry out quality inspections and ensure compliance with QA procedures and ITPs.
- Support pressure testing, flushing, chemical dosing, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Deliver toolbox talks and maintain the highest standards of health and safety.
- Liaise with site management teams, commissioning engineers, and client representatives.
- Monitor progress against programme and proactively resolve site issues.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience supervising mechanical building services installations on commercial, healthcare, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong technical understanding of:
- LTHW systems
- Heating and energy centre installations
- Carbon steel pipework
- Plant room construction
- Mechanical commissioning processes
- Valve and pump installations
- Experience supervising teams of up to 25 operatives.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and installation details.
- Previous healthcare or live environment experience would be advantageous.
