Job Overview: We are a specialist cleaning and ventilation contractor looking for an experienced Fire Damper Lead Engineer to strengthen our team. Our clients include national hospitals, hotels, restaurants, and food-on-the-go chains, all requiring the highest hygiene and fire safety standards. As a member of BESA, we provide full training to ensure all engineers meet industry standards. The purpose of this role is to carry out the testing, maintenance, and installation of fire and smoke dampers, ensuring fully compliant fire systems across all sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a site lead engineer, managing projects and supervising teams of fire damper operatives.
- Carry out testing, maintenance, and installation of fire and smoke dampers in line with industry standards.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, customer specifications, and industry guidelines.
- Manage and develop the team, coaching operatives to progress to engineer roles.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in clean, safe, and working condition.
- Ensure all reporting is timely and accurate, including daily service reports, non-conformance reports, final client system reports, and weekly timesheets.
- Install access panels, work in confined spaces and at height, and communicate effectively with clients.
- Conduct risk assessments and follow all health and safety regulations.
Requirements:
- Full, clean UK driving license (manual).
- Minimum 1 year experience in fire damper testing or a similar role.
- Experience working at height and in confined spaces preferred.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to manage staff on site.
- Flexible approach: some work may be out of hours; travel nationwide with company vehicle may be required.
- High level of enthusiasm, motivation, and strong work ethic.
