Red Rock Consultants are working with a prestigious independent school in Battersea that is looking to appoint a skilled Maintenance Operative to join their Estates team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and proactive maintenance professional to play a key role in maintaining a busy and diverse educational estate. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of repair, maintenance and minor project works, helping to ensure the school environment remains safe, compliant and well‑presented for pupils, staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the school estate, including carpentry, plumbing, decorating, plastering, glazing, brickwork and minor electrical works.
- Plan, cost and complete minor refurbishment and building projects.
- Source materials and manage project costs effectively.
- Inspect buildings and grounds, identifying and resolving maintenance issues.
- Monitor drainage systems, gutters, pumps and general building fabric.
- Monitor mechanical and electrical systems, including heating and cooling systems.
- Assist with the supervision and management of contractors on site.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are accurately recorded using the Helpdesk system.
- Maintain stock levels of consumables, tools and maintenance equipment.
- Support emergency repairs and participate in call‑out arrangements where required.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and participate in risk assessments.
- Support site security and Gatehouse operations when required.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards across all work areas.
- Liaise effectively with staff, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure works are completed efficiently.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience within a maintenance, facilities, estates or building services role.
- Broad practical skills including carpentry, plumbing, decorating, plastering, brickwork and minor electrical works.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and building compliance requirements.
- Experience supervising contractors.
- Physically fit and comfortable undertaking manual tasks and working at height when required.
- Full UK driving licence.
