About the Role
Our client, a well-established freight forwarding and logistics company based at London Gateway, is looking to recruit an experienced Import / Customs Operator to join their busy forwarding team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong customs clearance and import freight forwarding experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and being part of a supportive team.
What you'll do:
- Processing import customs clearances accurately and efficiently.
- Managing road, sea and air freight import shipments from start to finish.
- Ensuring compliance with all customs regulations and procedures.
- Using CDS, CNS, Destin8, ORP and IRP systems as part of daily operations.
- Liaising with customers, shipping lines, transport providers, customs authorities and overseas agents.
- Monitoring shipment progress and providing updates to customers.
- Resolving customs and operational queries in a timely manner.
- Assisting colleagues across the forwarding department as required.
- Supporting other areas of the business and undertaking additional training where necessary.
What you need:
- Previous experience within an Import / Customs Operator within a Freight Forwarding role.
- Strong understanding of import operations and customs clearance procedures for road and sea freight.
- Good knowledge of import freight forwarding operations.
- Experience arranging international shipments by road, sea and air freight.
- Knowledge of USA, China and India trade lanes would be highly advantageous.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A positive and flexible team-player attitude.
- Multifreight experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
