Our client, an award-winning removals and storage company, is currently looking to appoint an experienced Removals Warehouse Assistant & Forklift Driver to join their expanding team in London.
As Removals Warehouse Assistant & Forklift Driver you will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day warehouse and operations activities. Being a more senior member of the team, you will be expected to represent and support the Removals Warehouse Manager in directing crew, fleet and yard management. A typical day is 60% forklifting, 20% administration and 20% warehousing.
Removals Warehouse Assistant & Forklift Driver duties include:
- Warehousing activities (e.g., ordering, receiving and unloading shipments, processing records, preparing and distributing reports and other documentation, establishing and coordinating policies).
- Forklifting – making clients containers and empties available when needed.
- Verifying price, quantity and item numbers for received items and customer goods.
- Recording and maintaining inventory data in computer database including assisting with inventory control and resolving inventory discrepancies.
- Coordinating with truck drivers and dispatchers, staff and general crews, explaining distribution policies and procedures for deliveries and shipments, unloading and loading containers, raw materials and other tools.
- Assisting with preparation and checking of reports, schedules, invoices, forms and other required warehouse documentation.
- Ensuring compliance with all workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures in warehouse and operations while on the road.
- Overseeing warehouse activities during the morning dispatch of all crews incl. yard.
- Support in fleet control (vehicles loaded correctly, raw material usage, vehicle presentation etc.)
- Monthly stock checks and storage reports.
- Assist with overseeing the morning dispatch of all crews incl. yard control.
- Assist in briefing and debriefing crews.
- Updating and coordinating day to day crew planning administration incl. invoicing and PO generation.
- Fleet management control (daily check sheets, cleaning and loading for next day etc.).
- Presenting, and on approval, implementing efficiency and service improvement measures.
- Supervising / mentoring, development, performance, training and quality of the crew employees.
- Work with the HR team to manage absence and performance related issues in line with policies and to ensure absence documentation is completed correctly and punctually.
- Assist the Removal Manager with annual BAR and H&S audit process.
We are keen to speak to certified Forklift and in particular D1 reach licence holders, who have 2+ years of experience related to the duties required.
This is a physically demanding role, therefore applicants must be able to exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force regularly to move objects.
In return, the successful Removals Warehouse Assistant & Forklift Driver will be offered up to £32,000 in line with experience and skills.
