About the Role
Our client, a well‑established and growing freight forwarding organisation, is seeking an experienced Ocean Export Supervisor to join their specialist recyclables division. This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that forms part of a larger, expanding logistics group, providing global transport solutions across air, sea, and road freight. The role plays a key part within a niche division, with strong plans for growth and expansion into new markets.
What you'll do
- Take full ownership of the ocean export operation within the recyclables division and ensure smooth day‑to‑day running
- Act as the first point of escalation for operational and customer queries
- Support and guide the team through operational challenges
- Work closely with commercial colleagues to improve file profitability
- Drive process improvements and implement efficiencies across the team
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 5 staff
- Oversee team performance, training, and development
- Maintain team morale and manage holiday approvals
- Support credit control to ensure timely customer payments
- Monitor supplier and customer queries, ensuring all are resolved efficiently
What you need
- Strong operational experience within ocean export freight forwarding (essential)
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
- Experience within recyclables or a specialist freight sector would be advantageous
- A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
- Strong problem‑solving and organisational skills
- Confident communicator, able to liaise effectively across teams
- Ability to take ownership and work autonomously
