Our client, a leading independently owned freight company specialising in European logistics and road freight solutions, is currently looking for a European Freight Forwarder to join their team based in Essex. Some hybrid working hours will be available following the completion of the probation period.
Role Overview
As the European Freight Forwarder, you will be involved in daily operations within markets and dealing with Import and Export services between the UK and countries such as France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, and Hungary.
You will be planning, organising, directing, and helping run day-to-day operations to exceed customers\’ expectations. You will also be responsible for negotiating rates with customers as well as transportation costs with suppliers.
European Freight Forwarder Responsibilities:
- Maintain and improve working relationships with both customers and suppliers
- Monitor transport rates, markets, and oversee the job from start to finish
- Sub-contract haulage requirements, manage transportation bookings, and quotations
- Increase productivity while minimising unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
Candidate Requirements
We are keen to speak with candidates who have 3-5 years\’ experience in both Imports and Exports, as well as groupage knowledge and an understanding of customs procedures.
You will need to have technical expertise and knowledge of rates, customers, and suppliers within the European road freight sector.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Strong familiarity with the industry
- Computer literacy
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
- European language skills would be advantageous but are not essential
This is a full-time, permanent position, working from 9am to 5pm.
In return, the successful candidate will be offered up to £40,000 depending on experience.
