About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Ocean Import Operator to join their busy Freight Forwarding team based in Coventry. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with ocean import experience who is available to start quickly and is looking for a role that could become permanent.
What you’ll do
- Manage ocean import shipments from booking through to final delivery.
- Liaise with overseas offices, shipping lines, hauliers, customs brokers and customers.
- Arrange import customs clearance and ensure all documentation is accurate and compliant.
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve any operational issues.
- Keep customers informed throughout the shipment lifecycle.
- Raise and verify supplier invoices and complete accurate customer billing.
- Ensure all operational files are completed accurately and closed within company KPIs.
- Maintain compliance with customs regulations, company procedures and security requirements.
- Work closely with internal departments to deliver excellent customer service.
- Contribute ideas to improve operational processes and efficiencies.
What you need
- Previous experience within Ocean Imports or Freight Forwarding.
- Good understanding of international shipping documentation and import procedures.
- Knowledge of customs clearance processes.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience using CargoWise or other Freight Forwarding systems.
- Knowledge of CDS customs entries.
- Understanding of Incoterms and international trade documentation.
