Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm (1 hour lunch)

Hybrid: 1 day per week working from home

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Ocean Export Operator to join their busy Freight Forwarding team based in Coventry. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with solid ocean export experience who is available to start quickly and is looking for a role that could become permanent.

What You'll Do

  • Manage ocean export shipments from booking through to vessel departure.
  • Liaise with customers to obtain shipping instructions and all required export documentation.
  • Arrange bookings with shipping lines and transport providers.
  • Coordinate cargo collections and ensure shipments meet all cut-off times.
  • Prepare and validate export documentation, including Bills of Lading, commercial invoices and packing lists.
  • Complete export customs declarations accurately and within required deadlines.
  • Monitor shipments proactively and communicate any delays or issues to customers.
  • Liaise with overseas offices, shipping lines, carriers and customers throughout the shipment lifecycle.
  • Raise supplier invoices, complete customer billing and ensure operational files are completed accurately and within company KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, customs requirements, Dangerous Goods legislation (where applicable) and company procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and customer service.

What You Need

  • Previous experience within Ocean Export Freight Forwarding is essential.
  • Good understanding of international export shipping procedures and documentation.
  • Knowledge of export customs requirements.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a busy team.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using CargoWise or other Freight Forwarding systems.
  • Knowledge of Incoterms and Letters of Credit.
  • Aware of Dangerous Goods requirements for ocean freight.
