Our client is looking for a Customs Brokerage Executive to join their specialist Customs Control Tower team in Luton. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a busy operation supporting aerospace, aviation and time-critical logistics movements across the UK and internationally.
Working within a fast-paced environment, you will play a key role in ensuring customs declarations are completed accurately, goods move compliantly through international borders, and customers receive an exceptional level of service.
The Role
As a Customs Brokerage Executive, you will be responsible for managing customs formalities across Air, Road and Sea freight shipments while ensuring full compliance with HMRC regulations. Your duties will include:
- Processing import and export customs declarations using CDS.
- Managing transit movements and customs documentation.
- Reviewing commercial invoices and customs documentation for accuracy.
- Providing customers with regular customs and shipment updates.
- Ensuring compliance with HMRC legislation and internal procedures.
- Managing multiple customer requirements and operational deadlines.
- Maintaining accurate operational and financial records.
- Managing shared operational mailboxes and responding promptly to customer enquiries.
- Working closely with customers, overseas agents, hauliers and internal operational teams.
The Person
The successful candidate will have previous experience within customs brokerage, freight forwarding or international logistics and enjoy working in a busy operational environment. You will also have:
- Experience processing UK import and export customs declarations.
- Good knowledge of UK customs procedures and HMRC regulations.
- Experience using CDS.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- A proactive, customer-focused approach.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively under pressure.
- A collaborative attitude with excellent team-working skills.
Desirable Experience
- NCTS and transit procedures.
- Commodity classification and tariff knowledge.
- Experience using ASM and/or Boxtop.
- Aerospace, aviation or time-critical logistics experience.
