Customs Entry Clerk
Location:Â Dagenham
Salary: Up to £32,000 DOE
About the Job:
Due to increased demand our international freight forwarding and logistics solutions client are looking to appoint an experienced Customs Entry Clerk to join the team at their Dagenham branch.
We're keen to speak to Customs professionals with knowledge of customs procedures and principles. Experience with Sequoia software would be advantageous, but it not essential.
In return, our client is offering up to £32,000, in line with skills and experience.
A typical day will involve liaising with customers, customs authorities, coordinating customs clearances from start to finish, ensuring all customs activities and procedures are carried out in accordance with customer agreements and the agreed policy, at the lowest cost and with the best possible results.
Duties Include:
- Preparing and completing customs entries for import and export
- Handling entry queries, including using commodity codes, duty rates, licences and documentation requirements etc.
- Calculation of Duty and VAT rates per consignment
- Processing duty reclaims
- Maintaining compliance with current and evolving customs legislation
Successful Customs Entry Clerks have a good operational know-how of customs clearance procedures, food import, SPS and Port Health experience, including relevant laws and regulations. You'll be organised by nature with an eye for detail, and will thrive in a fast paced and dynamic atmosphere. Beyond that, you are innately responsive to the needs of customers and co-workers, and you actively contribute to the formulation and achievement of common goals. You are always alert to new opportunities.
