A highly respected professional membership body is looking to appoint an experienced Financial Accountant to join its Finance team. This is a permanent, full-time role based in central London, offering hybrid working and the chance to play a key role within a values-led organisation. This position sits at the heart of financial reporting and compliance, supporting both the organisation and its subsidiaries. It would suit a qualified accountant who enjoys combining technical expertise with improving systems, strengthening controls, and working closely with colleagues across the business.

The Financial Accountant will be responsible for ensuring financial information is accurate, compliant, and well-governed. You will take ownership of subsidiary accounts, support the production of consolidated group accounts, and act as a technical point of reference for accounting standards and statutory reporting. You will also lead on VAT and Corporation Tax returns, working closely with external advisers, and oversee reconciliations across the organisation, including intercompany balances, payroll, pensions, and cash flow. Alongside this, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving financial systems, ensuring processes are clear, documented, and well understood by users.

As Financial Accountant you will have oversight of investment portfolios, grant and scholarship programmes, and fund accounting, as well as responsibility for regulatory and statutory reporting. You will line manage a Finance Administrator, providing day-to-day support, regular 1:1s, and guidance through an apprenticeship programme. Working closely with the Group Financial Reporting Manager, Finance Director, budget holders, trustees, and external stakeholders, you will be a trusted adviser and collaborative team player. You may also deputise for the Group Financial Reporting Manager when required, offering exposure to broader finance leadership activity.

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CCAB) with solid experience of group reporting and consolidation. You will bring strong technical knowledge, excellent Excel skills, and the confidence to explain complex financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues. You will be someone who enjoys improving processes, spotting better ways of working, and taking ownership. You communicate well, influence with credibility, and approach your work with curiosity, integrity, and professionalism. Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central would be beneficial but is not essential.

This is a chance to join a respected, purpose-driven organisation that values collaboration, inclusion, and impact. The culture is supportive and forward-thinking, with a genuine commitment to professional development and continuous improvement. Interviews will take place as soon as possible, with a view to an early start.
